Bayluhanay is a term in Hiligaynon meaning “exchange” or “palitan.” It symbolizes the essence of a cultural program initiated by Alfredo Esquillo and Macouy Gonzales in 2018, that aimed to gather artists from Iloilo to be re/presented more in Metro Manila and vice-versa. The inaugural show at Molo Mansion in Iloilo City launched a series of 7 exhibits and integrations until 2019. However, from 2020-2023 the program paused due to the pandemic, only re-opening its channels this year through a collaborative effort of Esquillo’s Eskinita Art Farm in Tanauan, Batangas and Melvin Guirhem’s Puluy-an Art Gallery in Oton, Iloilo. -Janine Dimaranan
