Through the ages and across different cultures, the circle has always been regarded as an omnipresent symbol of infinity; its design was so simple that it could have predated the birth of civilization. It’s flowing continuously with no break between life and death, uniting both concepts in essence. However, depending on your perspective, the circle can also be viewed as something cyclical and repetitive. It can also represent territorial dominion, control, and power. From where you’re looking, it can either be an escape hole or a doorless prison. The multitude of meanings that this symbol possesses pervades the cluster of works for this exhibition.

Most of the artworks articulate the desire to break free and abolish the cycles of self-inflicted pain. From the personal to the sociopolitical, this exhibition is simply about freedom, letting go of wounds, and the capacity of the artist to use their body of work to express their breaking away from their inner obstacles.
