“Gay-on Nga!” probes the concept of agreeing to move forward and break away from oppressive traditions. Each artist’s fundamental outlook may differ from one another, but their end points somehow gravitate toward the same profound conclusion: choosing to move forward. Some of them navigate this concept through the intricate pathways of inner growth, as their works advocate the cultivation of one’s own mental durability by overcoming negative thoughts and embracing the individuality of the self. A majority of them, on the other hand, turn their art into vessels of dissent as they dismantle societal norms by highlighting the injustices and the repressive chains that bind us in a prison of evolutionary stagnation.
