Because of their profound impact on how society is shaped, artists have always been regarded as the vanguard of social change and progressive reform. And now more than ever, as we are facing the twilight of a make or break system of governance, artists can only do so much to make sure that we gravitate towards a leader that recognizes and respects our individual rights and civil liberties.
The selection of works for this exhibition weighs heavily on that topic because at the time of writing, history is being threatened to repeat its bloody mistakes again, thanks to the cult of personality that dictators have been radiating down to their heirs and living descendants. So at the evenfall of a world bound to face the brooding claws of tyranny, as the only son and namesake of a brutal dictator is now a presidential election frontrunner, we are all called into action to defend the freedom that we hold dear to our hearts. It's not perfect, but it will always be a better choice than an authoritarian world that completely disregards the value of human life and governs its people with fear and propaganda-coated ultra-nationalism.
